Howdy, y’all! We are excited to welcome our new Greenhouse Operations Technician, Angel Giron, to the full-time State Fair of Texas team. Angel joined our team part-time in April 2023, bringing valuable expertise in Mycology—the study of fungi (mushrooms)—significantly enriching our Big Tex Urban Farms program. His knowledge has helped us introduce a sustainable and nutritious protein source into our crops, which are donated to the South Dallas community to help those in need.
Angel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Web Design and Interactive Media from The Art Institute of Dallas, and he’s currently working towards his certification as a Texas Master Gardener through the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. Outside of his work at Big Tex Urban Farms, he enjoys hiking, camping, and spending time outdoors.
We’re thrilled to have Angel join us full-time and look forward to the incredible contributions he will bring to our growing team. Angel will be based at the Midway office and report to Drew Demler, Director of Horticulture. Please join us in welcoming Angel to his new role!
